My Obsession Series

Hopefully I will now have some time to post these series. It is going to be one thing I am currently obsessed with. It used to be the Maybelline lipstick and the fire-engine-orangey red nail polish.

Now, it is a RED trench coat. Yes, it's a bit late in the game - getting kind of cold now. BUT! They are all on insane sale and they beckon!

I now own this gorgeous piece that made me prance around the apartment in glee. I managed to snag it for $100. YAY!

However, I suggest several hawtt pieces that you may like.

Nordstrom has a great one -- the color is punchy and the style is quite short.

I don't recommend a coat I found in Guess stores-- it is actually a peacoat and it looks a bit cheap. It is on sale for $49.99. I mean, it's alright, but nothing to write home about.

Also, enjoy the www.shopstyle.com which lets you refine any wardrobe piece anyway you want -- color, price, brand, store, sale, etc. Great tool for um smart shoppers like me.

I am free! for now!

Alright, since my law school let me go for the summer to frolic in the sun and probably to volunteer, I will continue this blog for now.  Time to recount my new obsessions

1.  A good color block maxi dress.

Now, my favorite one has been off the shelves.   I mourn the French Connection color block maxi dress.  It was gorgeous, flowy and glam.

However, I present to you another hottie.  It is a better deal, just as beautiful, flowy and sexy, but a more casual version.  Look at this gorgeousness!  Comes in black, too.

2.  A citrusy red nail polish.

I loved the Essie Tangerine -- it is SO fantastic for the summer!  This color is like taking a furious fuck you skinny dip off a cliff while having your picture taken unbeknownst to you.  It's like punching summer in the face and then having a drink with it at the local pub.

OPI has a very comparable color -- I think it's called "a True Ab-Original".  If you want a tiny little bottle to try on for size, pick up a tiny $5 sampler bottle from Sephora.  I recommend L09 Passion.  I have one in burgundy too -- you know that wine/burgundy color craze that came and went.

3.  A pair of Chanel sunglasses I cannot track!  They are kind of shield-y, have gradient lenses, and have a small and simple black plastic Chanel logo on the black plastic arms.  Fuck! Anyone?!

4.  Maybelline Moisture Extreme lip color.  OK, I HATE lipsticks, seriously.  But this one spanked me raw!  It is truly soft, does not feel tacky or waxy, and it has a great yet subtle smell, like watermelon or candy.  I am a new woman, Maybelline's bitch almost.  My favorite is Nude Blush G132.

Truly yours

Ms. Lepore, what you are selling I am buying

Ok, how often do I get obsessed with dresses that make me feel amazing and incomparable? Not often. But this time I am covering the entire Nanette Lepore line -- she is a great find for girls with curves that do not have that much height to go around. She is an amazing designer that understands a woman's body. I have gone to Saks and fallen in love with her Surrealist Dress, although there are so many more dresses and camis that one can love. Her clothing have that certain flair that is almost never found in high designer fashion, unless you are looking at the fabulous and eclectic Roberto Cavalli. Nanette Lepore's clothing possess a 50's flair with the 80's notion of naughtiness. I personally cannot get enough. And neither should you.

Sun protection

There are many kinds. Of course, there is the ubiquitous sunscreen that invades all the makeup and facial care. And then there are sunglasses. For both guys and chicks, I advise going to a Lenscrafters or your local eye store. They have unexpected deals on sunglasses, sometimes offer student discount. For guys, looking sleek and rugged at the same time, I'd recommend Maui Jims. They are pricy, but they are worth it. They offer lightweight almost weightless sun protection. These are 501s, the latest creation. Get it in gunmetal or do not be afraid of the Maui Rose -- it gives your new glasses a cool brown tint.

And chicks can check out a new Marc Jacobs aviators, they are so funky cute.

Oh my god, sales!

It has been a while and I have been plenty busy.  Right about now is when the best sales are going on and it is quite a challenge to stumble across your size and your design, but... if you do, it's a great deal and an amazing find.

Visit your local bloomingdales for a great shoe and boot sale (
my personal favorite).  Marc Jacobs, DVF, other brands in all shapes and sizes -- Bloomis has everything.  But!  It is shedding its affordable image and getting rid of non-designer brands (especially in the shoe salon) and now their sister store Macys is going to carry the obscure brands that Bloomis featured, like Guess and Nine West or the unknowns like Ragazza which has the best dress shoes I've ever seen.

Meanwhile, it's getting so much colder, so stock up on comfy flannel PJs from victoriassecret.com
like these.  So your feet don't freeze, pick yourself up an amazing Gap cozy sherpa bootie like this one.  This winter has great savings and great places to go.  Have fun!

So, it has finally gotten to be winter in Boston.  It is freezing, there is some ice on the ground -- real winter, but no snow!!!  So, what does one do to complete the experience?  Well, she or he goes to find real snow.  Where?  Skiing/snowboarding resorts of course.  The luxy resorts like Killington have at least 82 to 100 trails open each day, and although a stay at Killington may prove to be pricy (rent in local rental shops, not from the mountain rentals), but it is entirely worth it considering the amenities like outdoor heated pools, saunas, jacuzzis -- OH MY!

Sunday River in Maine has
amazing ski and stay packages where for $100 you can ski and stay Feb 4-5 and enjoy Foogy Goggle's football parties and drinks to warm you back up.

As for localized fun, Wachusett has some great deals and Sports Replay stores everywhere in MA have affordable and quality packages on gear and equipment, ski or otherwise.

Have fun this winter

Going back to showing off clothes in school

Ok, it is back to school time for me! This is my favorite time: I am excited about the new classes I am taking and the new people that still have not seen the myriads of my outfits that I put together ever so carefully. I did emergency shopping last week to pad my wardrobe, but what if you need one last trip?  A lot of places are having awesome sales, so go check them out.

I went to the Lucky Brand store the other day, bought two pairs of jeans with the short inseam. I must say, they may be my favorite brand besides Seven for All Mankind and Rock and Republic. They fit so well without being uncomfortable and too tight.  Check them out here and you will see a ton of great deals, washes and distressing. I love Lucky Brand. Pay particular attention to the old favorite cuts like the Sweet N Low and the Lil Maggie and the newcomers like the Lola cut.  In my unhumble opinion, skip their tops, they are not worth the price and the look (their last collection seems to have struck out this time).

Of course, check out my mecca store, Urban Outfitters. It has been very warm in Boston, so do avoid sweaters and instead go with long sleeved deep V or U-neck tops. They are very comfy and sexy this time of the year. Go with pseudo indie chick or cute college chick choices.  Or go for something like
this for a little floral attention or this for a little simple sexiness.

Don't forget to keep your hair healthy and gorgeous (see my previous post) and let me know about other ideas and stores you would like to mention!

Have fun in school or work. Feel the breeze on your skin or the sunshine in your eye -- that helps some live happier.
